Ahwatukee Community Garden--Join us!
You are invited to our garden every Sunday between 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. (our summer hours)
to learn, help, and take home some veggies. No experience necessary!
Bring your questions. Pick out some free seeds from our seed library. See a Hula Hoe Demonstration by Kelly Athena. Talk to Linda Rominger, the Garden Director. Take a tour of the garden.
July notes from Director Linda Rominger:
Another summer in Ahwatukee. Rain has been greatly appreciated.
While our number of gardeners may dwindle in the heat, with some gardeners taking a break in cooler climes, the plants are still thriving, with our help. Come join us Sunday mornings at 7. Nibble grapes, take a selfie with the 8 -10 feet tall sunflowers and lion's tails or amaranths to astound the non- desert dwellers, and even get your hands dirty. Oh, and you can bring books for the Little Library .... it's back and more accessible. Jill Bigelow, Tyler Styles and their families made it look like new. With the ABM's help, especially Mark, they found a wonderful place to mount it. Thanks all of you for making the community a better place! (It's in Miss Mary's garden, but accessible from the playground.)
Another upcoming plant event: On Aug. 18th come learn about prickly pear fruit harvesting at
the Prickly Pear Festival in Superior, Arizona! Free!
